"My Fears Relieved" by Dana Rongione

About this book:

  “It all began with a pocket knife which led to a mysterious inscription which led to a wolf. But there are no wolves in Delaware...or are there? It's up to the Delaware Detectives to find out.
  Book three thrusts the detective team into a new mystery they are determined to solve no matter where the clues may lead. But are the kids prepared to discover what's really lurking in the woods of Beaver Valley?
     {While this book is appropriate for readers of all ages, gender and educational status, it was designed with the homeschool student in mind. To that end, the book contains a Glossary of Terms that can be used in the subject of Spelling and Vocabulary. The author has also included a Science Center, a History Hideout and a special Art Academy--all of which provide valuable insight and activities based on information from within the story itself. Could this be the perfect addition to your homeschool curriculum?}”

My personal Rating-
What another fun mystery! Like the previous books in “The Delaware Detectives” series, I can see homeschoolers really enjoying this book as well. While quite a bit shorter than the first two books, “My Fears Relieved” was an entertaining mystery. I really like Abby’s love of history (that desk!) and the ending makes me excited for the next book in this series!

My personal Rating-
I enjoyed “Through Many Dangers” a bit more than the first book, “The Delaware Detectives”, due to Abby and her little brother, Jamie, got along much better in this sequel book. The mysteries were exciting. I am a bit confused over Abby’s age (Jamie is eight—almost nine), there are mentions that she’s almost an adult and mature, but no actual statement of her age. I really liked the glossary, science experiment and history at the end, which I can see some homeschool moms liking as well. ;) With the illustrations, (while different from the first book) were really cute and I can also see younger kids getting into these mysteries.

But for Abby and Jamie Patterson, these items are essential ingredients to fulfilling their grandfather's greatest desire. Is the fortune real, or are the siblings following a path to nowhere as set down by an eccentric old woman? The quest is on, and time is running out.”

Series: Book #1 in “The Delaware Detectives” series.

Spiritual Content- A prayer; A Scripture is quoted in the Discussion Questions; Talks about God, the Bible & sin; A mention of church; Mentions of those in the Bible;
*Note: Mentions of ghosts & haunted houses.

Negative Content- Minor cussing including: a ‘stupid’, two ‘duh!’s and four forms of ‘dumb’; Abby & Jamie fuss and bicker at each other; Eye rolling; A mention of body waste; A mention of a cat looking like it was killed & skinned (but it’s very much alive); A few mentions of gambling; A few mentions of dead person & her missing head (barely-above-not-detailed); Places are described as creepy & terrifying; Overviews of past wars (barely-above-not-detailed).

Sexual Content- Abby thinks Scott is a hunk, wouldn’t mind having a poster of him on her wall & Jamie teases her about it.

What a fun mystery! The ending was a great lead up to the next book in the series. While Abby and Jamie's fussing bothered me, it was nice that others commented on it and bought it to the siblings' attention and they worked on their attitudes towards each other. :)
