"Witcha'be" by Anna Marie Kittrell

About this book:

  Publisher's note: This book is Christian Young Adult Fiction and does not contain the actual practice of witchcraft.
  New to the small community of Redbend, Molly Sanders is delighted when she and Lenni Flemming become instant friends during the final weeks of her first Oklahoma summer. However, Bianca Ravenwood, Lenni’s best friend and self-proclaimed "witch" in training, is less than thrilled. In fact, she’s cursing mad, vowing to destroy Molly while honing her craft in the halls of Redbend High School.
  When a loving schoolteacher intervenes, Molly is led into the open arms of a Christian youth group, where she learns of God, and of Bianca’s tragic past. Emboldened by the truth, and her newfound faith in Christ, Molly discovers the power of forgiveness is even stronger than the imagination of a wannabe witch.

Series: Has a sequel book “Dizzy Blonde” which is about Lenni. {Will be reviewed next month!}

Spiritual Content- Molly wears a cross necklace; Mrs. Piper shares verse & is a Christian, she also invites Molly to church; Church and Youth Group going; Scriptures are talked about; Discussions about writing in the Bible; Mentions of prayers; Finding God. *Spoiler* Both Molly and Bianca are going to church at the end of the book. Bianca gives up her past ways. *End of Spoiler*
*Note: a “go to h—” is cut off & written like that; Bianca is a witch in training so there’s: Molly’s afraid/paranoid that Bianca will put a curse on her; “Bianca couldn’t read minds without making eye contact.”; Talks about being a witch and what it takes to be a witch.

Negative Content- Minor cussing including: a ‘duh’, a ‘lame’, a ‘heck’, a ‘holy cow’, a ‘shoot’, a ‘sucks’, a ‘wimp’, two forms of ‘crap’, two ‘shut up’s, three ‘darn’s, three forms of ‘dumb’, three ‘stupid’s; Curses are said but not written; Potty talk; Molly watches a zombie movie (barely-above-not-detailed); Blood (semi-detailed); Molly is scared to death over grasshoppers (detailed); Mentions of Halloween, smoking, tattoos, drinking & throwing-up; People wear devil horns to a concert.
*Note: Bianca is a self-proclaimed witch in training.

My personal Rating-

Interesting book, right? But here’s the thing—it was really good. For one thing, it didn’t actually have witches in it. Sure, Bianca’s a wanna be witch but once you read about Bianca’s past everything about her made sense! You just want to give her a hug! I really liked the forgiveness and praying-for-those-you-don’t-like theme of the book.
