"Mandie and Mollie & the Angel's Visit" by Lois Gladys Leppard

About this book:

  “When Mollie, the young Irish girl who was saved from a fire in Belfast, comes along with Celia Hamilton to spend Easter at Mandie’s house, little has changed about the girl. She’s still looking for leprechauns and a pot of gold, so it’s not surprising when she says that an angel came to visit her.
   But when Mollie disappears from her bed in the middle of the night and is nowhere to be found, Mandie and Celia set out to find her. What they discover is shocking!
   A special mystery story with a script at the end for Mandie fans to perform!”

My personal Rating-
This little pre-teen book set during Easter time with some of the characters from the beloved “Mandie” series was sweet. It’s much lighter than the other mysteries in the series, but it’s cute as a bonus little book. Plus the play script at the end is neat to see!

"The Secret in the Woods" by Lois Gladys Leppard

 About this book:

  “Some mysteries are better left alone. That’s what Mandie’s best friend, Joe, says when strange things begin happening in the woods that surround their homes. Unexplained noises, spooky shadows, and weird voices all convince Joe that they should stay away. But Mandie won’t have any of that! She declares there’s no mystery too scary to solve. At least, there hasn’t been until now. . . .”

Series: This is book #5 in “Young Mandie Mysteries” series. (Book #1’s review Here!, #2 Here!, #3 Here!, #4 Here!, and the Christmas special Here!) {This series is connected to the original Mandie series, Mandie is younger in this series but this series was written later. Also is a bit confusing for those who have read the Mandie series first. See my review of Book #1 for my thoughts on this.}

Spiritual Content- Thanking God a couple times; Going to a singing event at church; Mentions of a church, church going, a singing event, & hymns.

Negative Content- Minor cussing including: a ‘dumb’; Mandie and her sister Irene say they don’t tell everything about what the other is doing to their mother (such as Irene hanging out with a boy and Mandie being in the woods); A couple mentions of the possibly of an animal being trapped or injured.

Sexual Content- N/A.

-Amanda “Mandie” Shaw, age 9
                                P.O.V. of Mandie

{The ratings are lower as the girl gets older because of the simple plot-line, but is clean for all ages.}
While this series isn’t my favorite Mandie series (because the original series is a classic in my eyes!), it has been cute to see Mandie and Joe again and their adventures.

"Merry Christmas from Mandie" by Lois Gladys Leppard

About this book:

  “Mandie made lots of friends this year . . . so many that she doesn't know what to give them all for Christmas! She's stumped--until gifts begin to mysteriously appear on her doorstep, gifts that would be perfect for her friends. Where are the gifts coming from? Is there really an angel at work in Charley Gap?
   Includes a special holiday craft project perfect for young readers!”

Series: This is a Christmas Special book in “Young Mandie Mysteries” series. (Book #1’s review Here!, #2 Here!, #3 Here!, and #4 Here!) It was published between books #3 and #4, but can be read out of order. {This series is connected to the original Mandie series, Mandie is younger in this series but this series was written later. Also is a bit confusing for those who have read the Mandie series first. See my review of Book #1 for my thoughts on this.}

Spiritual Content- Set during Christmas; Mentions of decorating a church for Christmas, helping a pastor, a church Christmas service, & a sermon; A couple mentions of celebrating Jesus’ birthday & the three wisemen; A mention of reading Scripture together after supper (which Mandie is so focused on the mysterious gift, she doesn’t hear a word); A mention of a blessing.

Negative Content- Minor cussing including: three ‘shucks’; A few mentions of a fire that caused the deaths of Mandie’s friend’s parents & her grandmother being badly burned; A mention of a possibly stolen item.

Sexual Content- Mandie gives Joe a quick kiss on his cheek in excitement; A mention of Mandie’s sister liking a boy.
