"Shining Night" by Alena Pitts

About this book:

“Lena’s overnight fame as an actress, after being cast in a lead role in a film, continues to pull her into the spotlight, while teaching her what it means to shine for God. And now she’s faced with her biggest challenge yet. When Lena’s favorite music artist, Mallory Winston, sends her a gift box filled with photos and memories of their time on tour together, she finds out that new friends from the children’s hospital they visited need help, including a little girl she became very fond of. The hospital is closing and the little girl’s parents can’t afford the ongoing care she needs.
Now, Lena wants to find a way to help. Rallying the support of her school, friends, and family pulls together a huge concert to raise funds that features Mallory Winston. What she doesn’t realize is that coordinating such a big event is harder than it looks. Lena must face the challenge of taking on a responsibility that sometimes seems too big for her to handle, and convincing others she won’t give up. On this journey, Lena discovers that helping others comes at a cost, but what matters most in life cannot be bought. With the encouragement and mentoring she receives from her family and even Mallory, she is constantly reminded that God is her strength and his plan is bigger.”

My personal Rating-
In remembrance of Mrs. Wynter Pitts, Books for Christian Girls decided to share a review of the third book in the “Lena in the Spotlight” series. I have found this series to be so sweet and encouraging, even while I’m outside of the target age. I’ve loved seeing their family and faith shown throughout these three books. My prayers, hugs, and thoughts are with the Pitts and their extended family.

See y’all on Monday with a new review!

My personal Rating-

I truly think I enjoyed this second book even a bit better than the first! Full of faith content and discussions easy enough for the target age of Pre-Teens to understand, it was all lovely. I honestly think it would be so much fun to babysit Lena and her siblings….just to get all their names down would be a fun trick! ;)

"Hello Stars" by Alena Pitts

About this book:

“Lena Daniels never thought she’d get the chance star in a movie. Headstrong and determined, she has her life planned out to the minute. But when her best friends, Savannah and Emma, tell her about an audition, she knows there’s nothing else in the world she’d rather do. And now that she’s gotten her wish, Lena finds that being in the spotlight is harder than it sounds. She got everything she never wanted! Her face turns up everywhere she goes, and everything in her life is flipped upside down. Lena wonders if this is a dream come true or a horrible nightmare. Even a visit from her best friends during filming turns into a disaster.
With her little sisters—Ansley, Ashton, and Amber—and her mischievous pup, Austin, constantly at her side, Lena must face the challenges of everyday life while chasing her dreams of being a model and actress on the big screen. Lena tackles tough choices, learns the value of perseverance, and keeps her hopes high. She knows her faith and family will keep her feet on the ground and her eyes on the stars.”

My personal Rating-
What a cute book! Between the illustrations inside, Lena & her sweet family, and the great talks about God, it was such a pleasant read! Lena seems very age appropriate for an eleven year old in her thoughts, writing, & actions. I’m also going to go with the thought that Mallory Winston (Lena’s favorite singer) is supposed to be like Jamie Grace based on certain details mentioned. ;)
I look forward to reading the second book! :)
