"Don't Rock the Boat" by Elizabeth Ludwig

About this book:

“Priscilla is adjusting to her new life on Martha’s Vineyard. She loves waking each day to the sound of waves lapping the shoreline and the scent of fresh sea breezes. Though she’s still learning the culture, she no longer feels like a tourist in the community.
But when a suitcase washes up on shore, Priscilla wonders if there’s more in store for her at Misty Harbor than just a change of scenery. Intrigued by the luggage and its mysterious contents, she begins a quest to find its owner. As clues draw her closer to the truth, she realizes life at the lighthouse could turn out to be anything but quiet.”

My personal Rating-
I had a really hard time getting into this book and keeping myself interested. This is the fourth Guidepost series I’ve started reading and have noticed during these few books (thus far) that Priscilla seems to be a different person almost every time in the way of her personality and reactions. It’s making it a bit difficult to read at times, really. I think I struggled with not only that but a couple other (more minor, but still frustrating) things. A lot of people said ‘uh-huh’ when answering someone’s question, which wouldn’t have been noticeable to me if it was only once or twice, but it was quite a few times. (Not sure if this is a regional thing? None of the prior books had it that I noticed…) Also, Priscilla gave her dog a mash potato pizza and plain breadsticks (and another person gave him a pretzel) was a bit strange to me—and super unhealthy for the pup.

I feel like I only fussed, but the ending was exciting and because I wasn’t sure who the culprit was, the reveal was interesting.

"Making Waves" by Tricia Goyer & Cara Putman

About this book:

“When a Congressional Medal belonging to World War II veteran Deanie Spangler goes missing at her hundredth birthday party, Priscilla is determined to find answers to the theft. Who would stoop so low to steal a keepsake from a decorated war hero? Can they recover the medal before all traces of its whereabouts dissolve? As Priscilla and Mildred scour the museum where the party was held, they begin to notice other artifacts missing. Is the thief preparing to strike again?
Priscilla follows the clues to find a more sinister scheme in the making. Through the process of solving the mystery, she discovers a piece of the nation’s past she didn’t know existed and comes to a greater appreciation of the ordinary women and men who sacrificed so much to keep their families and friends safe—and their country free.”

My personal Rating-
While at first I wasn’t the most interested in this mystery, the middle of the story brought in about ship wreckages and possible treasure, which caught my attention. I found the book more interesting after that. ;)
There was a good amount of faith content in this book and it was nice to see new characters (that weren’t the trouble makers or thieves). :)
