“After
a harrowing attempt on a judge's life at the courthouse, Deputy US Marshals
Madison James and Jonas Quinn are tasked with finding a missing woman and an
endangered child in connection to the murder of the judge's wife. What seems
like a fairly straightforward case becomes hopelessly tangled when the marshals
discover that the woman they are searching for is in witness protection and the
Amber Alert put out for the missing child has put two lives in danger.
Madison and Jonas are forced into a
race to find the woman and the child before the men who want her dead discover
her location. And in a final showdown that could cost her everything, Madison
will come face-to-face with the person who murdered her husband.”

{ This
book does mention affairs and murders, and while it is overall very clean for
these
topics, it may be best for older girls.}
This was a pretty satisfying
ending to the “US Marshals” trilogy. The mystery of who murdered Madison’s
husband and is stalking her has been in the prior two books and I was excited
to read and see what would happen in this final book.
I really like the pacing of this
one; There’s a lot happening but unlike other suspense books I’ve read, everything
is not “coincidentally” connected. There were multiple things happening but
they didn’t all add up to the same big picture. Which really worked well because
we see a couple extra POVs that sometimes give the reader a bit more information
than Madison or Jonas has and I enjoyed that element. It kept you on your toes
as you were reading.
Also, I liked Jonas a lot in this
book. He cared for Madison a lot but respected her space and listened to her.
While he might have rescued her a couple times, she rescued him as well so she
wasn’t a damsel in distress at all—which is very fitting because she’s good at
her job. The romance element was super light in this novel and just in the
whole trilogy in general.
This may be my new favorite
series by Lisa Harris and, as always, I’ll be watching for news about her next
suspense books.
See y’all on Friday with a new
review!
