"Rosie and Scamper" by Vicki Watson {Pre-Teen Week!}

{Welcome to Pre-Teen Week! Every quarter we’re going to try to do a full week dedicated to finding great Christian books for girls ages 8/9-12 every week day! This is Day Three of this quarters’!} {Day One Here!} {Day Two Here!}

About this book:

  “While learning to ride at Sonrise Stable, eight-year-old Rosie dreams of the horse shows she will win with her pony, Jet. Two years later, nothing is exactly the way Rose planned it – she’s riding a new pony, Scamper, and learning that life isn’t always easy. But it’s as Rosie reaches out to the new girl next door that she truly begins to see that God works all things together for good in our lives.
  The Sonrise Stable series is the heartwarming, continuing story of an extended homeschooling family as they live, learn, and love together. What a good book! Perfect for horse lovers and super clean for young readers, plus all the Spiritual Content was great! With illustrations inside, I think it would even be good for new readers! :)

And will finding the answer mean Mandie will have to give up the first pet she's ever had?”

I read the original Mandie series way before I started this blog and I loved them! (I’ll start reviewing those soon!) But, compared to that series, this series (Young Mandie Mysteries) there was some things that didn’t add up...like Mandie’s stepmother (In the first Mandie book, she’s the typical evil stepmother but with this book she’s...wonderful...? Still scratching my head on that.) When you don’t compare the two, this was a good, cute mystery that sadly didn’t have any Spiritual Content.

This was a cute book! Girls who have read the American Girl Saige books (or seen the movie) will definitely like this one! (Maybe even more because of the Spiritual Content in “Isabel’s Secret”!) My only note is that both Isabel & her BFF, Holly, both have cell-phones at age 11/12...which now that I think about it is probably normal in the Public School scene! I thought the extra stuff in the back was super fun and am looking forward to reading the rest in this series! :)
