Interview with Sandra Orchard & Celebration!

In honor of Over Maya Dead Body’s release—TODAY!—I’m sharing a special interview with the author and a chance for y’all to win a copy of the first book! :)
Y’all have seen me fangirl often over this author and her wonderful mystery/suspense books on all of our social medias, but I’m so excited to be sharing this interview with Miss Sandra Orchard. (And have a giveaway at the end. ;) )

BFCG: Hi Miss Sandra! We’re so happy to have you on ‘Books for Christian Girls’ today! Thank you so much for letting us interview you! Let’s start this off by asking if you could please tell us about Serena and what she does in your own words.

SO: Serena is driven to solve crimes involving art and antiquities, in the secret hope that one day she might bring to justice the art thief who took her grandfather’s life. Thankfully she’s also surrounded by devoted parents, a quirky aunt, a handsome apartment superintendent and an equally handsome colleague who want her to have a life too.

BFCG: I’ve loved reading about Serena, her family, & her job! It’s been so fascinating and just adds to my FBI/Criminal Justice lovin’ heart! If you worked for the FBI, what division do you think you would be a part of?

SO: Hmm…the training division sounds as if it’d be fun. Although I’d probably be best suited to the finance division, since I majored in math at university.

BFCG: Can you please tell us a little about yourself?

SO: When not plotting crimes, I love to play with my adorable little grandchildren or enjoy hiking or kayaking with my hubby or renovating our century-old farmhouse, aka the money pit. Once upon a time, I taught high school math, homeschooled my three brilliant children (I could be biased on the brilliant part) and I still do bookkeeping—the mathematical kind. ;) I also love to speak at events, teach writing workshops, and do all kinds of crafts.

BFCG: After writing a fantastic series featuring poisons, Port Aster Secrets, what made you decide to write a series around an FBI agent?

SO: Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the Port Aster series. I’d done a lot of research on art crime for my Love Inspired Suspense novel, Perilous Waters, and was brimming with more story ideas that I thought would dovetail nicely with a heroine trying to find her way in the world of work, family and relationships. Thankfully my editor agreed. :)

BFCG: I’ve now read 12 out of 13 of your books, I believe, and have enjoyed every single one. How many books have you written total?

SO: 3 1/2 more than have been published and/or contracted. <wink> Over Maya Dead Body is lucky number 13—my sixth mystery with Revell. I also have 7 romantic suspense with Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense Christian imprint, and I’m currently working on 3 cozy mysteries for Annie’s Attic.

BFCG: This blog is based on the verse Philippians 4:8 {“…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”}. Is there a part of that Scripture that stands out to you?

SO: As it pertains to Serena, “whatever is honorable and whatever is right” are guiding principles in her life and work.

Wasn’t that such a neat interview? I always love hearing about how different authors think and write. :) Thank you again to Miss Sandra for allowing BFCG to interview you!

"Over Maya Dead Body" by Sandra Orchard

About this book:

“FBI Special Agent Serena Jones arrives on Martha's Vineyard with her family, ready for a little bit of R&R and a whole lot of reminiscing as they celebrate the engagement of an old family friend. But crime doesn't take a vacation, and she's soon entangled in an investigation of a suspicious death tied to an antiquities smuggling ring.
When her investigation propels her into danger, Serena must stay the course and solve this case before anyone else dies. But just how is she supposed to do that when the two men in her life arrive on the scene, bringing with them plenty of romantic complications--and even a secret or two?”

My personal Rating-
I’m an emotional mess right now. I really don’t want to say much for spoilers—if you’ve read this book, feel free to message me—but I did really, really enjoy this trilogy. I’m also having a hard time being very vague in these final thoughts were nobody can guess (based my reactions) to who Serena picked. I don’t want to spoiler that for anyone.
There were many parts I loved and parts I was so excited about being right on prior guesses. The action and plot kept me guessing on who did the crime and why. I so enjoyed this novel along with the previous two in the series and plan on reading whatever this talented author puts out next. :)

See y’all on Wednesday with a new review!
