"Andrea and the 5-Day Challenge" by Cindy K. Green {Teen Week!}

{Welcome to Teen Week! Every quarter we're going to try and do a Teen Week! A week where every weekday has a new review of a Christian book written just for teens! You’re reading the last one of this quarter's! :) {Day 1 here!} {Day 2 here!} {Day 3 here!} {Day 4 here!} }

About this book:

  “Dear Lord,
I need Your help and sooner would be better than later. Wouldn't you know it, just as soon as I decide to attempt the 5-Day Bible Study Challenge, my parents start heaping on loads of pressure to get me into Julliard. My friend Amy isn’t any better, urging me to ask Luke Ryan to homecoming. As if the cute, transfer jock would actually go out with me. I mean, we’re kinda friends, and I’ve enjoyed our Geometry study sessions, but in case Amy hasn’t noticed, I’m the invisible one at Aubrey Christian Academy, and I like it that way. On top of that, I have a feeling Luke’s concealing something behind those chocolate-brown eyes of his. I know I can be self-centered and a bit melodramatic, but I really do want to seek Your will for my life. Then maybe I’ll even figure out which direction points up.

Sincerely, Andrea Jamison

Series: Book #1 in the “Aubrey Christian Academy” series.

Spiritual Content- Prayers; Bible Study at Church; Joshua 1:9 at Chapter 1; Andrea is doing a 5 Day Bible Study Challenge (all five are written out and end with a Scripture or two); Talks about God & being courageous; Some ‘H’s are capital when referring to God and some not (most likely an editing mistake).
*Note: a mention of a “h*ll-bent cheerleader.”.

Negative Content- Minor cussing including: a form of ‘dumb’, a ‘moron’, a ‘oh my word’, a ‘screw’, two ‘duh’s, two ‘heck’s, three ‘gosh’s, three ‘shoot’s, six ‘darn’s, six ‘oh my gosh’s, eight ‘stupid’s, and nine ‘idiot’s; Sarcasm; a Mention of kicking someone’s butt.
            *Note: a mention of an alien spaceship; Andrea says “I’m not a fanged creature of the night, nor am I in love with one.”.

Sexual Content- two kisses on the cheek, a not-detailed kiss and a barely-above-not-detailed kiss; Blushes, Embraces, Touches & Warmth (barely-above-not-detailed); Homecoming, dates & boyfriends are all a large part of this story; Mentions of cute boys, who-likes-who, dumping, dating and asking to homecoming; A boy is called cute, yummy, and hottie; Mentions of dates & Andrea’s parents frown on the idea on dating; Stephanie wears a v-neck shirt and Andrea says/thinks that the endowment fairies had been kind to her; a Mention that a guy and Stephanie kissed and groped (“kissing and groping”) ; a mention of a girl who texts semi-inappropriate pictures of herself to boys; A mention of a guy who’s a player; a Mention of estrogen; a Mention that the kids in ACA pledge to stay away from sexual things (which Andrea doesn’t believe that any of them take seriously); Crushes & the emotions.

My personal Rating-

Oh my goodness! This was so cute! I really liked all the Spiritual content in “Andrea’s 5-Day Challenge” and I laughed a lot! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the Minor Cussing and the bit of romance/crushes. But truly, it all seemed believable to me. :)

This was such a great week! Thank you for joining on Teen Week! And just in case you missed them: {Day 1 here!} {Day 2 here!} {Day 3 here!} {Day 4 here!} And you’re reading Day 5! We’ll see y’all on Monday with another new review! :)
