Meanwhile, Katie finds herself bombarded with everyone's competing visions regarding her own special day--and she's beginning to worry that her own ideas will get lost in the crossfire. My personal Rating-
*blissfully happy sigh* This was an absolutely perfect ending to this trilogy. Janice Thompson creates the best characters that get in the most rib-tickling misunderstandings. Miss Janice writes laugh-out-loud wedding books that are way better than any ol’ Hallmark movie. Filled with humor, southern accents & lots of prayers, anything Janice Thompson writes is a must read for me. (There’s a salon called Do or Dye in this one, y’all. That’s just a taste of the wit in a Janice Thompson novel.) In “Every Bride Has Her Day”, I literally cried at the wedding & prayer. It was so sweet and very touching!
Janice Thompson (and also published under Janice Hanna) is one of my top-5-favorite authors and I can’t wait to see what she writes next. :)

2023 reread: Because I needed some joyful reading and have been working on rereading this trilogy when I can, I decided to reread this final book and it was still such a fun book! The ending makes me teary-eyed every time, I swear! What is it about weddings that make you feel all the emotions? I was giggly, I felt like I wanted to cry, I could barely breathe in anticipation—it was so beautiful! I would say this series is better for ages 16/17+ because of some marital comments/hints, but those parts could easily go over the heads of younger readers.

See y’all on Wednesday with a new review!

"Every Girl Gets Confused" by Janice Thompson

{{This is an updated review. Originally posted November 23rd, 2015, it was updated on November 15th, 2023 to the Official Rating System.}}

About this book:

  “Katie Fisher and Brady James may be a match made in heaven, but that doesn't seem to guarantee them a happily ever after accompanied by angelic choirs. In fact, the sounds being heard at the bridal shop where she works are on the contentious side lately, as a bride- and groom-to-be try to mediate the growing rivalry between their basketball-obsessed families in the middle of play-off season. On top of that, Katie's parents are nagging her to get out of Dallas and come home to tiny Fairfield where her former boyfriend Carson is waiting for her, ready to rekindle their relationship. Oy vey! What's a girl to do? And will she ever be able to wear that gorgeous wedding dress she won?
  The breezy fun continues as Janice Thompson throws everyone's favorite small-town girl into big-city bridal chaos--and makes her choose between the love she thought she lost and the love she stumbled upon in the aftermath.”

My personal Rating-

2016 thoughts: I’m grinning from ear to ear, I so enjoy Miss Janice’s books. With this one, however, while I still enjoyed it, it felt that there was a bit more sexual hints & mentions then the previous book in the series. Still much cleaner than other books I’ve reviewed and still as hilarious as her other books, though. Fantastic Spiritual Content, which is refreshing. :) Janice Thompson makes the characters come alive on the pages. I really do enjoy her books. Hey, Revell! Do me a huge favor and publish more books by this wonderful lady, alright? Please and Thank you! ;)

2023 reread: I wanted pure happiness to read and I knew exactly which author to go to. The cast of characters in this trilogy makes this such a fun series! They’re such a mess, hahaha!

I think some readers might call Katie whishy-washy because of Casey entering back into her life, but 1. I don’t view her as that because she’s committed to Brady and 2.) she and Casey dated for years, so of course she’s going to feel somewhat familiar with him, despite him breaking her heart. I don’t think there was ever a glimpse of a love triangle in this book, because we know Katie & Brady are the end game—and what a sweet end game it is! I just love the two of them together, especially in this middle book because of her commitment to him and everything they’re going through. There’s a few mentions of married adult activities, and while I think they would go over a younger reader’s head, those comments are still there, but minor hints.

See y’all on Wednesday with a new review!

  “Somewhere in a sea of tulle and taffeta, satin and crepe, Katie Fisher needs to find a key ingredient of the perfect wedding—the groom.
  Small-town girl Katie Fisher is busy planning her fairy-tale wedding. Sure, her boyfriend hasn’t managed to pop the question just yet, but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t enter a contest in Texas Brides magazine to win the dress of her dreams, right? Anyway, she’s sure he’ll be getting down on one knee any time now. And a one-of-a-kind designer dress doesn’t just fall out of the sky right when you need it.
  But when Katie’s boyfriend takes a job in another town and breaks up with her—on the very same day she wins her dream dress—her world is turned upside down. Dare she go to Dallas to claim her prize? And will the hunky pro basketball player who runs the beyond-swanky bridal shop—yeah, you read that right—discover her humiliating secret if she does?”
