{Merry
CHRISTmas everyone! Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday in honor of our
Savior’s birth there’ll be a new Christmas book review! With a couple giveaways
sprinkled in, it’s going to be so much fun! Let’s start!}
About this book:
“When new lumberjack, Tom Jeffries, tells the camp cook, Jo Christy, that he’ll marry her if she can make a fruitcake, “as good as the one my mother makes,” she rises to the occasion. After all, he’s the handsomest, smartest, and strongest axman her camp-boss father has ever had in his camp—and the cockiest. And she intends to bring this lumberjack down a notch or three by refusing his proposal. The fruitcake wars are on!”
Series: It’s considered book #3 in the “Christmas Traditions” series, but they aren’t connected.

In the Author’s Acknowledgements,
she thanks quite a few author—but here’s the neat thing—in her writing accountability
group members are: Julie Klassen, Melanie Dickerson and Sarah E. Ladd! Author’s
we’ve reviewed recently or soon to be reviewing again! Pretty neat, huh?
“The
Fruitcake Challenge” made me giggle at the plot and go “Ewww!”
at the fruitcakes. (I’ve only had a British fruitcake and I was not a fan—Sorry
Nana!) But it almost made me want to try fruitcake again. Almost. ;)
Now, since this is the last giveaway
for this month--it’s open World Wide! Miss Carrie Fancett Pagels, the author,

Hey Lindsay, just an idea. For a New Year's post you should do a "Best Books of 2014" I would love to see what some of your very favorites were of this year before we go into next year. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about doing that! But, we'll see. ;)

Loving the Christmas book reviews!
ReplyDeleteAnd, from your book list, "Waterfall" and "Cascade" by Lisa T. Bergren. I've read them already, but I'd really like to see what you thought of them.
Thanks for the review!

Since I am a weird fruitcake lover, I definitely want to read this book!
ReplyDeleteTY Loraine! I hope you'll love Jo's story about HOPE in Christ! Blessings!
DeleteI would love for you to review Elsie's Endless Wait and Elsie's Impossible Choice, both by Martha Finley.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't necessarily a Christian book for your TBR list, but it is SO clean and and an amazing read. It is a series called The Mysterious Benedict Society including the books, "The Mysterious Benedict Society", "The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey", and the "Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma." I am actually thinking about reading this series a second time. It has riddles all throughout it (and although I was skeptical at first of the riddles, they proved to be ever so much fun). I think you would enjoy reading these books!
ReplyDeleteHi Kayla!
DeleteYes! Yes! I've read those books many times! When Mr. Benedict's Story came out, I was able to meet the author. It's a very good series! I hope to be able to re-read them soon. :)
Have a very Merry Christmas!

My husband loves fruitcake. I've always been afraid to make one. So I really like the title of this book, The Fruitcake Challenge. I also like two books on your book list: Sneak and Priced to Move. I would like to see how they go about living life in Sneak. It seems like a Futuristic read. I always, always love to look at jewelry or read about precious gems. That's why I picked Priced To Move. Thank you for entering me in contest.
ReplyDeleteIn my story about hope in Christ, Jo and her helpers make all kinds of fruitcake! And lots of people benefit from that baking! I hope you'll get a chase to read this Christian historical romance! Blessings!
